Down in the Dumps
PoetryAnant Tyagi
“If you weren't built for this life, you'd be dead by now. I think the problem is people don't share enough of their pain with the world, so they never know who else is in pain, too, and what others are going through. We're never really alone in anything.” — Darnell Lamont Walker
Lying on the floor staring at the clock,
Tick tock Tick tock, it's 2am,
My life feels like a mayhem,
Everything I try, feels out of my reach,
There's nothing I can learn, there's nothing I can
teach
I lost in every game, I no longer have any aim
Everyone will look down upon me, everywhere
they'll take my name.
I loved my girlfriend so much, can't believe she really left
Took away my heart with her, might file a complaint
of theft
I should build a fence around me, too unsafe to
leave this room.
Better not tell anyone, I'll sound uncool to them,
Open my phone to google up depression, wait why
Is it still 2am?
I've been living like this for 24 hours?
Why can't I breathe, it's like I'm on Mars.
I look at the ceiling fan, I think I have a rope.
Oh, I have a knife too cutting my nerves would be
so dope
Wait I also live on the 24th floor!
Okay, to even a single line, if you could relate,
You better talk to someone, before it's too late
Calm down mate, there's no reason to build up so
much hate.
You ever think about your parents?
For you they've been running around their whole
life,
Trying to pay rents.
You really think they want to see you hurt yourself
with that knife?
